Scammers Posing as Parents Target Would-Be Sitters & Nannies on Care.com and Other Online Sites

As always, scammers are taking advantage of people in a vulnerable state as they seek employment. If you are using Care .com or any online listing boards, keep your guard up.  As with anything you do online, always exercise common sense.

Nannies and baby sitters are being targeted by a scam designed to take their money and leave them without jobs. Randy Mac reports for the NBC4 News at 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 2, 2015. (Published Monday, Feb 2, 2015) See Report Here

Online Nanny and Job Sites Can Put Children at Risk

Interesting article from the Association of Nanny Agencies (ANA) about some of the overlooked risks of using an online site to secure a child care provider.

As with any encounter originating online, we advise job seekers and potential employers alike to exercise common sense before agreeing to meet anyone you corresponded with online. The first meeting should always be in a diner or Starbucks and make certain to get the full names and contact numbers of anyone you’re meeting with beforehand. Call to confirm the appointment and establish the legitimacy of the contact information. And if something seems awry,  trust your gut and move on!
