July 4th is the 31st annual (Four on the Fourth) Independence Day Race in New Canaan, CT. Great way to start off the day with a 4 mile run along scenic Oenoke Ridge in New Canaan.

K5 Bedford, NY Central School District (BCSD) 3rd Annual Bike Run-2013

Even the rain this morning couldn’t stop these enthusiastic young athletes from competing in the 2013 Bedford, NY (BCSD) 3rd Annual Bike Run. A good time was had by everyone and Wee Care was delighted to support the event.Many, many thanks to Christina Dochtermann, and all the volunteers  for all the hard work and for inviting Wee Care to participate. Interesting article in the NYT about  all the benefits of talking to your baby a lot and often. And the chatter they hear from the TV doesn’t count. 
 

…Another idea, however, is creeping into the policy debate: that the key to early learning is talking — specifically, a child’s exposure to language spoken by parents and caretakers from birth to age 3, the more the better. It turns out, evidence is showing, that the much-ridiculed stream of parent-to-child baby talk — Feel Teddy’s nose! It’s so soft! Cars make noise — look, there’s a yellow one! Baby feels hungry? Now Mommy is opening the refrigerator! — is very, very important. (So put those smartphones away!)

 A disturbing article in the New York Daily News about individuals using deceitful practices and misrepresenting their backgrounds on a online listing service to secure nanny jobs.

Park Slope Parents listserv says some nannies are using under-handed methods to land jobs, including posting fabricated recommendations, stealing identities to get accounts and secretly sending friends to job interviews.



NYC National Nanny Training Day II Saturday, April 20th 2013 at 10AM

Wee Care Nanny Agency is proud to be a sponsor of National Nanny Training Day 2 “NNTD” being held at Turtle Bay in Manhattan (52nd and 2nd Ave) on April 20, 2013.  NNTD offers a full day of training for nannies featuring many experienced industry leaders speaking on a variety of topics like caring for the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and recreational needs of  your charges. In short, you will get additional insight on how to be an exceptional caregiver, and build and maintain a great working relationship with your family. Last year was the first time the event was held, and it attracted 1200+ nannies in over 30 cities nationwide.
